Long Thanh International Airport is a key national project that has received particular attention from the government and the public. ATAD Steel Structure Corporation, the only unit in Vietnam's steel structure industry to achieve the Vietnam Value and the National Quality Gold Award, is responsible for the roof and steel structure of the Vietur joint venture, the contractor of the airport terminal.

The technical research, design, and solution were carried out by the ATAD engineering team for a year before construction started, ensuring the stability of the entire structure during the lifting process.

To ensure accuracy and safety, ATAD's engineering team closely coordinated with experts from VSL Group. The roof weighs more than 5,300 tonnes, assembled from 256 connection points meeting European standards. The roof has a curved arch covering nearly 20,000 square metres, with a cantilever extending 41m outwards. The entire structure was lifted using 56 specialised hydraulic jacks, each capable of supporting loads from 40 to 330 tonnes.
In addition, the contractor applied advanced load monitoring, lifting, and planning simulation software, while using 3D scanning technology to ensure accuracy. Controlling the connection dimensions, deformation tolerances, and thermal expansion of the steel structure was performed with absolute precision using specialised equipment.
The steel dome is considered the “heart” of Long Thanh International Airport
“To ensure the progress of the passenger terminal, the lifting of the steel structure was extremely important. It is a symbol of the technical progress made in the Vietnamese construction industry," said the Ministry of Construction.
